A lot of brothers and sisters who want to memorise the Qur’aan complain of losing motivation in their journey. In this blessed month of Ramadhaan, with the high spirits and faith each one of us has and the absence of the major devils, it is a perfect opportunity to accelerate your memorisation.
We have a challenge for you memorisers. Set yourself a target to memorise either ONE COMPLETE JUZ or HALF A JUZ by the end of this month. It may sound crazy to some of you but it is achievable and much easier than you think. How?
Let’s break it down together. There are approximately 20 pages (1 page being one side) in each juz and if we assume there are 30 days in Ramadhaan, it would mean memorising 1 page every one and a half days.
How can you do this? Take each page and divide it into roughly three parts. So you memorise one third in the morning and one third in the evening and the remaining third for that page, the following morning.
If you are using an ‘Uthmaani mushaf, there are about 15 lines on each page. Divide that into three and it would mean memorising approximately 5 lines in each session.
As long as you make it a priority to repeatedly recite what you have memorised in your prayers, you will not forget whilst memorising new pages inshaaAllaah.
So if you want to memorise a juz, you would complete….
1 page in 1.5 days
2 pages in 3 days
4 pages in 6 days
10 pages in 15 days
1 JUZ in 30 days
And if you want to memorise half a juz, you would complete….
1 page in 3 days
2 pages in 6 days
4 pages in 12 days
Half a JUZ in 30 days
