Weekly Inspiration – Youssef Edghouch

So far all the recitors we have presented to you in the weekly inspirations have been reciting according to the riwaayah of Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim. This week we have selected a young Imaam from California, America who is of Morrocan origin. He is 24 years old and recites according to Warsh ‘an Naafi’. This is a recitation which is most common in Morroco. Listen carefully and notice the differences between this recitation and that of Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim, which is the most widely used recitation across the Muslim world.

In the first video, he recites Soorat-al-A’laa and al-Ghaashiyah during the ‘Eed prayer.

In this next video, he recites the last three chapters of the Qur’aan.

In this final video, he is reciting Soorah an-Naba. There are many more videos available on the internet for those of you who want to find more of his recitation.
